Welcome to Congregation Beth Ohr!

WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT CANTOR ZAHAVA FRIED IS RETURNING ON OCTOBER 2 FOR ROSH HASHANAH AND  ON OCTOBER 11 FOR YOM KIPPUR.

On behalf of the leadership and members of Congregation Beth Ohr, I would like to welcome you to our newly revised website. My name is Joel Mishkin and I have been the rabbi here at Beth Ohr since July 2014. One of my initial observations when I first arrived at our

synagogue was that this was a most unique environment, unlike many other institutions. There was a genuine warmth and solicitous ambience within the walls of our lovely sanctuary. We don’t just say that we are friendly. We really are friendly! Newcomers to our congregation were immediately welcomed and made to feel completely at ease. Furthermore, over the years this sense of openness and friendliness has only deepened.

I have tried to cultivate not only an atmosphere of warmth but also a rich environment of learning, prayer and acts of lovingkindness to stimulate our congregants. During the year, we feature a weekly array of educational offerings for our members using zoom technology along with weekly services in-person on Shabbat and Sunday mornings. We also have a Kabbalat Shabbat Service on Friday evenings weekly at 6:00 p.m. using zoom technology. If you happen to visit us on one of those evenings, you will no doubt witness the camaraderie that emanates from the computer screen. Congregation Beth Ohr also features a vibrant and active Sisterhood and Men’s Club that share in fellowship and social opportunities and we will feature special musical weekends and an annual scholar-in-residence Shabbat weekend.

If you have any additional questions or comments I can easily be reached through our congregational office and would be eager to greet and meet you at your convenience. Looking forward to seeing you at our synagogue!
